Yep…the villains and heroes are moving in.

After coming off a season of SuperMansion that saw the franchise get two Emmy nominations for Keegan Michael Key and Chris Pine, Zeb Wells has a lot on his plate in the coming season. For starters, his wife (and SuperMansion voice “Cooch”) Heidi Gardner just got a gig on Saturday Night Live as a featured player, and not only is Zeb producing the third season of SuperMansion, but a VR special is also in development. SuperMansion: Drag Me to Halloween was great, but with Jerry Seinfeld departing Crackle, the streaming service will rely heavily on its lone animated franchise that was also already put into syndication for Adult Swim earlier this year.

For SuperMansion season three, expect the series to continue the trend set forth by the aforementioned Halloween special with the villains and heroes getting a LOT cozier…to the point of living with each other which lends itself to being a nightmare for Lex who has to now come to grips with the fact that she’s a little of both.”The villains aren’t actually evil, I don’t know what they are,” says Wells, “but it’s fun having all these pieces of a chessboard and figuring out where everything goes.”

And what about that VR special? According to Wells, he said the production is still a bit early and that the challenge is finding that sweet spot cross between storytelling and allowing the user to do what they want. In other words, telling a story that is compelling enough to make the user want to keep “playing” not unlike a video game.

Regardless, SuperMansion has two Emmy nominees in Pine and Key of which Zeb is not taking for granted, “A lot of people don’t realize that American Ranger is Key or that Pine is any of his characters because of how good they are of which I am extremely proud of them.”
