John “On The Spot”: #3 of Animated Shows That Should Come Back

I went to school with nerds. I’ve dated nerd girls. I work at a job surrounded by nerds. And if you haven’t noticed after reading this site quite regularly you will not be shocked to know that I am a nerd. So, a show animated to look like an 8-bit video game premiering on G4 on a really hot summer night in July really was a no-brainer because I ain’t had shit to do. Hence forth, we had “Code Monkeys”.

As some here know, I am a gamer but I’m not really hard core. I hate WoW, don’t play CoD, nor do I plan on buying any Final Fantasy game, mainly because I think they take too long. But, as a kid I did have an NES, with games such as Super Mario, Punch-Out, and Duck Hunt( pronounced Duh? ,cunt) were all regular main stays in my game library. As such, when Code Monkeys premiered I couldn’t help being the guy pointing at everything and bringing up memories of games that I cherished so much.

Having said that, the show had the voice cast and degrading humor to back up its awesome premise. Who can forget characters such as Clarence, Black Steve, and my personal favorite Todd. And to be honest, as the show went on I couldn’t help but place certain characters from the show to people I knew in real life. So, how could this show fail you ask?

Not a clue, to be honest maybe G4 wasn’t the best channel for it in hindsight. Here is a network that really had no history of developing award-winning programming that attracts a lot a viewers. They’d rather be the channel that just runs shitty movies all the time and call it a day. Adam De la Pena is very talented too, as I was a HUGE fan of his old show “I’m with Busey”, and provided the voice chops to do “Dave” justice.

Can this show come back? FUCK YEA IT CAN! And it should! It had 20 million viewers during its run, the writing behind it was awesome, and the jokes were always there week in and week out.
