Review: Grimsburg “How the Other Half Lives”
Overview
Flute is suspicious of Summers’ new cyborg friend; Martinez joins the Satanic church for the childcare perks.
Our Take
It’s been a while since I’ve seen an episode of Grimsburg where I actually enjoy seeing Summers. Normally the character is so boring, but this week I couldn’t help but enjoy the bit and actually I thought the entire episode of Grimsburg was more than solid.
When the show works it’s best, it’s when it leans into the detective/crime-fighing angles with clues and twists and whatever else comes with crime television. This week has a lot of that and they do it right on both plots this week. That said, I thought the Church of Satan bit was a bit hackneyed though it did give us a chance to do a bit of solving crimes with Agent Martinez whom we don’t get to see all that often, so I can see how that would be a nice change of pace from what we normally get.
Again, I’ve never been a big fan of Summers, but his new cyborg friend was a comical endeavor that was executed very well and served well in the overall episode. It’s been a few weeks in a row now that Grimsburg is showing everyone that they want a fourth season. Nothing has been announced yet but if the show can continue to lean in to the crime bits and less on the constant show biz gags I think the series can truly start to find itself and be a steady foothold.
