ETCH and Lilly Wachowski’s Anarchists United Team Up for Occult Comedy Series ‘Cassie Workman Is Witchy AF’
Independent production banner ETCH has joined forces with Lilly Wachowski’s Anarchists United Studios to bring a unique blend of ritual magic, dark comedy, and puppet chaos to YouTube with Cassie Workman Is Witchy AF.
The eight-part weekly adult documentary-style comedy series premiered exclusively on YouTube on September 16, 2026. Created, written by, and starring Australian comedian, poet, and artist Cassie Workman, the series explores the intricate history, philosophy, and practical applications of occultism through a satirical, highly personal lens.
Evil Puppetry, Occult History, and Jersey Shore Roots
Set in a fictionalized occult bookstore owned and operated by Workman, Cassie Workman Is Witchy AF guides viewers through a surreal spectrum of ritual magic, identity, tarot, demons, love, death, and possible spiritual salvation. Over the course of eight episodes, the show tackles iconic topics including the history of Aleister Crowley, the esoterica of John Dee, the secret occult history of Hollywood, and the worship of Santa Muerte.
To bring its supernatural world to life, the production utilizes handcrafted marionettes and puppetry designed by Direct Message (with puppet sequences directed by Joel Goulet) alongside practical special effects makeup crafted by Monster in My Closet (Smile 2, Hocus Pocus).
The series was shot entirely on location in Asbury Park, New Jersey, utilizing the iconic Wolfe & Kron bookstore as well as Asbury’s oldest gay bar, Georgies.
Star-Studded Guest Voices and Crew
The series features guest appearances from:
-
Shirley Manson (frontwoman of alternative rock band Garbage)
-
Ben Russell (acclaimed Australian comedian)
-
An ensemble cast of demons and mischievous evil puppets
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Hannah Welever alongside Director of Photography Frederic Fasano (Mother of Tears), the series stood out behind the camera as well, featuring a crew composed predominantly of women, queer, and LGBTQIA+ creatives.
Executive Producer Praise: Lilly Wachowski and ETCH
The series marks one of the flagship releases for Anarchists United Studios, founded by iconic filmmaker Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix, Work in Progress) alongside Sarah Marie Flores and Lawrence Mattis to elevate genre projects from underrepresented voices.
“Cassie Workman weaves a Charm of Making so wickedly delightful it turned me into a newt!” said Executive Producer Lilly Wachowski. “Seriously, everyone needs to watch the fabulous and funny and informative ‘Cassie Workman is Witchy AF’ immediately! I am so proud to be a producer on this and call her my friend!!!”
ETCH partners Philip Gelatt and Will Battersby echoed Wachowski’s enthusiasm:
“Cassie Workman is a rare comedic talent. This show is hilarious, poignant, and full of the punk energy of resistance our world needs so badly right now. And that’s even before you get to the puppets.”
