Technoblade Feature Documentary Technoblade Never Dies Enters Production with Riot Games Financing

A feature-length documentary celebrating the life, career, and enduring legacy of late Minecraft icon Technoblade has officially entered production. Titled Technoblade Never Dies—a nod to the beloved creator’s famous catchphrase—the project is being financed by gaming powerhouse Riot Games and Hypixel Studios, with production led by Candle Media’s Candle True Stories.

The film is being developed with the full cooperation of Technoblade’s family, including his father, known online as “Mr. Technodad.”

Chronicling a Gaming Legend

Technoblade, whose real name was Alex, rose to massive prominence on YouTube and Minecraft servers like Hypixel through his unmatched competitive skill, sharp dry wit, and legendary story arcs—such as his viral “Potato War” rivalry and dominance in player-versus-player tournaments.

After revealing his stage four sarcoma diagnosis in 2021, Alex continued creating content and fundraising for cancer research until his passing in June 2022 at age 23. His farewell video, titled “so long nerds” and delivered by his father, remains one of the most emotional moments in digital culture history.

Key Creative Team & Charitable Drive

Directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Steven Lake, the feature aims to explore the deep human connections forged through gaming and online communities.

“Technoblade Never Dies is an endearing and authentic exploration of the positive power of the internet and video games,” said Lake. “The Technoblade story is a triumphant exploration of the echo that the ones we love leave behind.”

Notably, both Riot Games and Hypixel Studios have committed to donating 100% of their profits from the documentary directly to charity, echoing Technoblade’s extensive philanthropic efforts during his life, which raised millions for the Sarcoma Foundation of America.

Release Plans

While production has just begun and no formal distribution deal or release date has been set, the team plans to premiere Technoblade Never Dies at a major film festival before pursuing a theatrical run and broader digital distribution.
