English Dub Review: You and I Are Polar Opposites “The Future”

Overview:

Nishi and Yamada spend some time at Yamada’s house.

Our Take(Spoilers):

There’s a trend with the thumbnails for the episodes that I’m starting to pick up on. We’ve had quite a few of them featuring Yamada and Nishi, and also a fair bit of them involving Taira and Azuma. What I’ve noticed is that a lot of them show the characters in almost the same positions. In Taira and Azuma’s case, there are two thumbnails that show them on the train. For Yamada and Nishi, it shows them with their faces awfully close together. I don’t have some sort of theory for why they did this, but I found it interesting and wanted to mention it.

Yamada had a date planned with Nishi, but a sudden rainstorm ruined those plans. Instead, he decided to have her come over to his house. I always find it interesting in anime when boys and girls go over to each other’s houses with seemingly no issues from their parents. We saw a clip of Nishi leaving her house, and her mother asked her where she was going all dressed up. All she said was that she was hanging out with a classmate. I’m no prude or anything, but I would have a few more questions for my daughter, I think. Yamada’s mom and sister were at the house, so nothing too crazy could have happened, but I still find it a little weird.

Nishi and Yamada spent most of their time hanging out, playing video games. Nishi didn’t feel super comfortable with kissing yet, but when Yamada walked her to the bus stop, she couldn’t hold back her feelings and ended up kissing him. That’s two couples with a kiss now; hopefully we can get a third before the show ends.

In case you didn’t know, the third couple is hopefully Taira and Azuma. Before we get there, though, they encountered a roadblock here. Azuma saw Taira walking back from a meeting with Nishi’s friend, Honda. She got incredibly jealous, and that made her upset because she didn’t want to be jealous. Then, when Taira bumped into her and said, “Oh, it’s just you,” she started to get upset until he explained how comfortable she makes him feel. At this point, I might be more invested in this couple that might never happen than I am in the main couple, and I don’t know what that says about me personally.
