Our Take:
Reirin sure knew how to draw a crowd through her determination, even if it meant risking her life. But that’s not the only good thing that has happened, as someone finally recognized what’s going on with the princesses’ odd behavior. The end of the previous episode showed that Tousetsu, one of Reirin’s maids, may have figured out the truth about the predicament. Through her study of “Reirin’s” different behavior patterns, Tousetsu immediately knew that “Reirin” isn’t really Reirin at all, highlighting the character’s immense knowledge of the princess she’s been taking care of for a long time. I initially thought no one would be aware of the situation throughout the season, but this episode proved me wrong.
It shows that Tousetsu knows and trusts Reirin down to a tee, making her another reliable ally on Reirin’s team. But it also briefly showcases her guilt of not knowing about the body swap sooner. Additionally, the episode highlights that venomcraft is the cause of Reirin’s illness, meaning that someone may have been behind her condition, with Kenshuu ending up being the next victim of this sorcery. With these revelations, along with Kenshuu’s history with Gabi, we’re starting to see that this may be far bigger than Keigetsu’s body swap scheme. The question now is whether that would be enough for Keigetsu to put aside her jealousy and cooperate with Reirin. While a tad slow with Kenshuu’s flashback, “Meaning of Entrusting a Weapon” made a suitable decision not to save the supporting character uncovering the truth for later, focusing more on this mysterious conspiracy instead.
