English Dub Review: Yowayowa Sensei “A Weak and Wimpy Photography Training Camp (2)”

Overview:

Mizuki and Akihito have a heart-to-heart. Later, Hiyori deals with a sunburn.

Our Take(Spoilers):

So it’s a bit of a good news/bad news situation when it comes to Mizuki’s confession. She did say it out loud, and Abikura did hear her. They didn’t do that dumb thing where they pretend not to hear it. I thought we would get some sort of resolution to that confession, but apparently not? Abikura doesn’t address it in any sort of meaningful way. Instead, he brings up the reason she might be feeling that way: she might be lonely or something. They had an issue from their childhood that needed to be cleared up, and now that it has, I think she feels more free to have feelings for him.

Abikura transferred schools when he was younger without telling Mizuki. Turns out she was super busy, so he left a note for her in her desk. Unfortunately, she had a messy desk and never saw it, so she thought he abandoned her with no notice. So maybe she doesn’t have feelings for him and was just upset about that, and that was why she was being a tsundere.

Even if she does have feelings for him, we all know it’s not going to matter because we know who the best girl is in this show. I think Hiyori started to realize that what she said about her ideal guy pertains to Abikura now. She had hoped that whoever she fell in love with would be someone who respected her, and she respected them. So when they discussed their admiration of each other, it triggered her to remember that conversation.

I’m okay if Mizuki does like Abikura (or as she and everyone else now call him, Ak-kun), but hopefully we don’t go into harem territory. Yukishita has no interest in guys, as far as I can tell, and other than taking some racy photos, it doesn’t seem like Kuguri has too much romantic interest at all. There are still some other characters that need to be introduced, I think, but we are closing in on the last quarter of the season.

I liked that the confession was addressed, but I don’t like how it was addressed, if that makes sense. It felt like it was acknowledged, and that was it. But maybe it will become more of a thing as Abikura and Hiyori get a little bit closer.
