English Dub Review: The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You. “Yasashiki-san’s Gardening Club Tour”
Overview
Rentaro gets the idea to gift flower crowns to his girlfriends, and who better to ask than the gardening club?
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Rentarou’s family meets Yamame, a towering and gentle girl whose love for nature, plants, and wildlife makes her a refreshing addition to the group. Compared to the more exaggerated personalities of the other girlfriends, Yamame feels surprisingly down-to-earth, with her kindness and passion for gardening making her immediately likable. Her enormous height also gives the episode plenty of opportunities for visual comedy, while characters like Rentarou, Shizuka, Chiyo, and Kusuri all get their own amusing moments alongside her introduction.
The rest of the proceedings continue to deliver the ridiculous humor and wholesome charm that make *100 Girlfriends* so enjoyable. The girls’ matching white dresses and flower crowns are especially adorable, while the farm setting leads to plenty of funny interactions involving the entire family. Rentarou’s fourth-wall-breaking antics are as hilarious as ever, and there are several fun visual gags and references sprinkled throughout. Kurumi also gets some great moments thanks to all the fresh produce. At the same time, the episode gives Yamame plenty of room to show why she fits so naturally into this increasingly chaotic group.
Overall, Yamame’s introduction is another fun and wholesome addition to the series, giving us a girlfriend with a noticeably gentler personality while still finding plenty of ways to make her memorable. The combination of Yamame’s love of nature, the other girls’ antics, and Rentarou’s unwavering enthusiasm makes this another consistently entertaining episode. And if you’re someone who usually skips the credits, stick around afterward, because a fun little comedy bit is waiting for you after the ending.
