English Dub Review: Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World With Garbage Balancing “An Order From The Prince”

A-rank dungeons are dangerous for a reason, as the No-Life Gamers quickly learn. But that’s not the only challenge awaiting them.

Our Take(Spoilers):

Krena might be my new favorite character in this show. This episode gave her a lot of focus, and I have to say she’s pretty badass. I think what sets this show apart in a way is that in most other shows, Krena would be the main character. She has that “chosen one” aura about her; she’s a part of the sword lord class, which gives hero vibes.

Don’t get me wrong, Allen is a great main character. There was a part where he helped Viscount Granvelle with that dick of a prince I mentioned earlier. The Viscount did what he could to help Keel’s family reinstate their noble status. Keel would still have to serve on the front lines for five years, but afterwards his family would be reinstated. This felt a little off to me, but after meeting the prince, it’s pretty clear to me he’s as corrupt as they come.

Prince Invel von Ratash threatened Viscount Granvelle to rescind the contract for Keel, or else his daughter Cecil would have to fulfill her “noble duty”, which is to serve in the war. Allen stood up for Granvelle by telling him that, as Cecil’s protector, he would make sure that no harm befalls her.

Krena, meanwhile, joins a tournament to show off her new skills. She makes it all the way to the finals, where she faces off against the very warrior who helped her learn to use her skills. She thought that she had come far enough to finally beat him or at least make him work for a victory. When that wasn’t the case, it was up to Allen to cheer her up.

The next time they went to an A-rank dungeon, they encountered a new boss that was too dangerous for them. But before they could retreat, Krena sprang into action. I love scenes like this where characters’ eyes glaze over, and it’s like they’re operating on instinct. Krena basically removed her limiter, which gave her stats a huge boost, and her HP regenerated at a fast rate. This made it so she could take out the new boss with no issues. I love seeing all these different characters from different walks of life learning to rely on each other. If this show can keep this up, I think we have a sleeper on our hands.
