Fox Shakes Up ‘Animation Domination’ for Fall 2026: What’s Primetime and What’s Held for Winter

Fox is bringing major changes to its iconic Sunday night block for the Fall 2026-2027 television season. The network is splitting up its animation roster, establishing a streamlined fall lineup while pushing several fan-favorite staples to a highly anticipated Winter block.

Beginning Sunday, September 27, Fox’s Sunday evening kicks off with a tight three-show animated lineup. The animated schedule for the fall includes:

  • 8:00–8:30 PM ET/PT: The Simpsons (Season 38 Premiere)

  • 9:00–9:30 PM ET/PT: Universal Basic Guys (Season 3 Premiere)

  • 9:30–10:00 PM ET/PT: Grimsburg (Season 3 Premiere)

The network is utilizing this tighter fall window to spotlight its newer animated series. Universal Basic Guys returns for its third season in the coveted 9:00 PM slot. Immediately after, Jon Hamm’s eccentric detective comedy Grimsburg takes over at 9:30 PM to close out the night.

The Winter Slate: Heavy Hitters On Ice

To make room for this fall rotation, Fox is executing an unexpected strategy by holding back some of its most famous long-running properties.

Fans of the Belchers, the Smiths, and the Griffins will have to wait just a bit longer. American Dad!, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and Krapopolis are all officially set to return for the Winter 2026-2027 season.

Notably, this marks the first time in 14 years that the multi-Emmy-winning Bob’s Burgers has been held for a midseason premiere rather than anchoring a spot on the autumn schedule. The delayed winter rollout promises a massive second-half wave of new episodes, setting up a block of back-to-back classic comedy once the winter holidays wrap up.
