‘Family Guy’ Standalone Spinoff ‘Stewie’ Assembles Ensemble Voice Cast Led by Kenan Thompson and Vanessa Bayer

The Family Guy universe is expanding once again. Fox and 20th Television Animation have officially rounded out the main voice cast for Stewie, a standalone animated spinoff series centered on Quahog’s resident diabolical toddler.

Joining series creator and lead voice actor Seth MacFarlane is a stacked comedy roster anchored by Saturday Night Live veterans Kenan Thompson and Vanessa Bayer, alongside Melissa O’Neil (The Rookie), Jessica Lowe (The Righteous Gemstones), Aaron Lee, and Family Guy veteran Mike Henry.

Co-created by MacFarlane and Kirker Butler, Stewie has already received a two-season series order. The show is slated to make its broadcast debut on Fox during the 2027–2028 television season, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.

A New Preschool, New Targets

The premise of the spinoff sees Stewie Griffin expelled from his usual preschool, forcing his parents to enroll him in a far less prestigious replacement facility. Naturally, the change of scenery doesn’t curb his sci-fi ambitions. Armed with his signature array of high-tech inventions, time machines, and gadgets, Stewie begins recruiting his new classmates for high-stakes adventures through space and time.

The newly announced voice cast breaks down across Stewie’s new social orbit:

  • Seth MacFarlane reprises his iconic role as Stewie Griffin. Additionally, MacFarlane will voice Bean, a “man-of-very-few-words” classmate who is implied to have been dropped on his head a few too many times.

  • Kenan Thompson voices Royal, one of Stewie’s new friends who brings a grounded, skeptical “Hell no” attitude to Stewie’s dangerous sci-fi hijinks.

  • Vanessa Bayer joins as Morgan, Stewie’s new preschool teacher who is far more interested in partying than actually supervising her young students.

  • Mike Henry voices BJ, the young son of Family Guy recurring character Bruce (whom Henry also voices).

  • Melissa O’Neil plays Wanda, a sharp-witted classmate who serves as Stewie’s intellectual soulmate.

  • Jessica Lowe plays Skunk, a classroom nemesis who constantly butts heads with Stewie.

  • Aaron Lee rounds out the cast as Skunk, a 100-year-old turtle who somehow resides in the preschool classroom.

Building out the ‘Family Guy’ Franchise

Stewie marks the first major direct animated spinoff in the franchise since The Cleveland Show, which ran for four seasons from 2009 to 2013. By removing Stewie from the primary Griffin household setting and placing him in a dedicated ensemble environment, the series aims to dive deeper into the sci-fi parody elements that have yielded some of Family Guy‘s most acclaimed episodes, such as the fan-favorite Road to… serials.
