English Dub Review: Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. “A Legitimate Job Admired by Everyone”
Overview
Shigemoto’s Alice System is rejected by the other council members due to ineffective results. A determined Shigemoto then proposes letting his company exterminate a new Kaii species the Research Institute for Magical Technology (RIMT) has in its possession, which is agreed upon by nearly everyone except for Kenji Koshigaya, Hitomi’s estranged father. Once Shigemoto returns to the office, he informs his employees of their next assignment. That night, Hitomi is approached by a mysterious figure with an oddly specific offer tied to her father…
Our Take
Picking up from the previous season, Magilumiere returns with a strong premiere that immediately dives back into its unique blend of magical girl action and workplace drama. As Shigemoto continues promoting the ALICE System as a safer solution for combating Kaii, the industry remains divided, while a new storyline begins to explore Hitomi Koshigaya’s personal struggles and family history. The episode also does a great job reintroducing the cast, making it easy to settle back into the series after the break.
The character interactions remain one of the show’s biggest strengths, particularly the dynamic between Kana and Hitomi, while the expanding workplace politics add another interesting layer to the story. The opening and ending themes are both enjoyable, and although the animation isn’t especially flashy, it remains consistently solid with expressive character moments and a charming presentation that suits the series well.
Overall, this was a gentle but enjoyable start to the new season. It successfully re-establishes the world, introduces an intriguing new conflict, and continues to blend magical girl action with corporate drama in a way that still feels refreshingly unique. With likable characters, steady pacing, and several promising story threads, it’s an encouraging return that leaves plenty to look forward to.
