English Dub Review: Farming Life in Another World “Festivities and Fuushu’s Graduate”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

The passage of time brings change.  A new competition is held, Alfred grows older, and new settlers arrive.

Our Take:

The village is preparing for yet another festival in this week’s episode.  Of course, the festivities aren’t complete without a contest everyone can enjoy.  The episode showcases Hiraku coming up with a new competition for the upcoming event, known as “sliding”.  Thankfully, this happened to be much safer and less dangerous than the martial arts tournament they hosted a while back.  Of course, this also resulted in some of the contestants either cheating or fumbling in their takeoff, notably Rashashi.  As usual, this segment proved to be another instance of harmless fun amid its tranquility, as well as the amusement of the characters’ jumps and eye-opening attire.

However, the true winner worth noting involves Fuushu, whom Hiraku helped cure her son back in episode five.  Due to the mayor’s kindness, Fuushu offered a generous “thank you” gift by bringing in human villagers to stay in the Great Tree Village.  Not only do they now have enough men to match the number of women, but they also have a balanced mixture of humans and magical creatures residing in the village.  Sure, it’s not without some concerns, such as the humans’ fear of the Forest of Death and the elf residents, but those are only minor, as we would expect from Farming Life in Another World.  Amid the show’s approach of introducing an endless number of characters, finally having more humans around besides Hiraku is certainly a win in my book.  Well, that and the sight of Alfred growing up through his first words.  However, these celebrations may not last long, thanks to an unexpected visitor from the sky.
