English Dub Review: Classroom of the Elite “Power and Will”

Overview:

The first-years make a big move to take down solo-team stragglers… starting with Ayanokoji!

Our Take(Spoilers):

I loved this episode; it was exciting seeing all of Ayanokoji’s favors start to get called in. He got Sakayanagi to help with things, but the one that surprised me most was Ryuen. Especially since it meant he was going to have to face off against Hosen. I’ll admit that I was a little disappointed at the fight we got.

It seems like most of the season has been building up to a fight between Ryuen and Hosen. Hosen has shown that he’s tough, and as we know, the only one to give Ryuen a run for his money is Ayanokoji. But Hosen absolutely dogwalked Ryuen during the fight. I thought that maybe Ryuen was getting his ass beaten on purpose, with how bad it was. Turns out, Hosen might just be that tough. Ryuen had to get some help from his friends, which seemed to always be the plan, and that led to a scene of him hitting Hosen so much that it started to make me uncomfortable.

With Hosen out of the way, it seemed that Ayanokoji was in for smooth sailing. That is, until Sakayanagi informs him that Ichinose is missing and seems to be headed his way. The scene that followed leaves me a little torn.

Ichinose was threated by the acting chairman to forget when she overheard them talking about Ayanokoji and to not tell him a thing. If she did warn him, her entire class would fail. She decides to tell him anyway, and that’s not all she tells him. Ichinose seems to be in love with Ayanokoji (who isn’t these days?), and that’s why she felt compelled to tell him.

The thing about Ichinose is that she doesn’t seem to have a deceptive bone in her body, so I don’t think she’s trying to deceive him. Not only that, but she told him to avoid a certain zone because of what she knew. He decides to go anyway so that her class doesn’t get expelled, plus I think he has a plan up his sleeve.

Ayanokoji tells Ichinose that as far as her love confession goes, he’ll have to give her an answer later. I’m torn on this because at the beginning I liked Ichinose more than Karuizawa, and Ayanokoji seemed to have more chemistry with her. That was about three seasons ago, and Karuizawa has grown on me. I thought Ayanokoji’s relationship with Karuizawa was well known, so I wonder how that will get handled when it becomes relevant. Great episode, sad we only have one more left.
