Cyanide & Happiness Team Headed to Comic-Con with Live Drawing Panel and New Animated Series ‘America’s Next Cryptid’

The creative team behind Explosm Studios and the cult-favorite animated phenomenon Cyanide & Happiness is set to return to San Diego Comic-Con for what has consistently proven to be one of the convention weekend’s most unpredictable fan events.

Taking the stage in Room 6DE, the team will host their signature panel, “Cyanide & Happiness: Stuff We Shouldn’t Draw.” Known for its loose format and unfiltered humor, the panel features panelists Adam Nusrallah (producer/writer), Connor Murphy (director/writer), Mike Salcedo (director/writer), and Kris Wilson (creator/writer). During the hour-long session, the creators will take live, often highly suggestive prompts directly from the audience and sketch them in real time on stage, alongside debuting never-before-seen Cyanide & Happiness animated shorts.

In addition to the team listed on the official schedule, Explosm co-founder and Cyanide & Happiness co-creator Rob DenBleyker will also be joining the conversation to offer fans an exclusive look at what lies ahead for the studio.

Introducing ‘America’s Next Cryptid’

The central news highlight for this year’s panel revolves around Explosm Studios’ newest project: America’s Next Cryptid. During the session, the team will publicly discuss and showcase the upcoming animated series for the very first time.

Currently in production for Animation+ Studios, America’s Next Cryptid is slated to premiere exclusively on Tubi this fall. The new series promises to bring Explosm’s signature irreverence, dark humor, and boundary-pushing character designs to the world of folklore, urban legends, and mysterious creatures.

The Rise of Animation+ Studios

The premiere of America’s Next Cryptid marks a major milestone for Animation+ Studios, a FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) channel and AVOD brand launched in 2024 by co-founders Fitzpatrick and industry veteran Evan Weiss.

Built in partnership with several independent animation studios and creators, Animation+ aims to serve as a launchpad for creator-driven, uncensored adult animation that often struggles to find a home within traditional broadcast networks. The platform—which streams 24/7 for free—is currently distributed across major FAST platforms including Samsung TV Plus, Roku, Vizio WatchFree+, Hisense Vidaa, Plex, and Tubi.
