English Dub Review: Petals Of Reincarnation “All-Knowing & Corruption”

Overview:

In the latest episode of Petals of Reincarnation, “All-Knowing and Corruption,” many of the Greats are facing off against one of history’s most infamous figures.

Our Take:

Touya reveals his talent and his motivations of wanting to surpass his brother. While this initially appeared to make him come off as morally grey, another character Funasaka muses that he has a good heart in spite of his desires. If anything, he’s also at least being upfront about what he desires, so the Returners can at least trust him. Funasaka also reveals that he has no memory of his previous life. Thanks to this, he has no memory of what his motivations even were.

However, before Funasaka can act on this, the episode is just setting up the big clashes between the Sinners and the Greats. In particular, Funasaka will face off against Hans “The Phoenix” Rudel, who both have powers pertaining to immortality. Meanwhile, Hayha, the “White Death,” is set to face off against a fellow sniper, Hathcock, the “White Feather,” who is actually cloaked in feathers. However, it’s one infamous figure that will face off against various Greats in this story: Hitler, who seems to know and control anything they want. Many of them won’t survive the encounter. In fact, the only one who appears to have any leverage against him is Pol Pot, who has the power of rot.

However, it’s Newton who sees the crack in Hitler’s power. However, he feels that he just might have the secret weapon that could end the conflict. Meanwhile, it’s Touya who begins to question Funasaka’s true motivations during a seemingly endless flight.

Overall, this episode introduces a lot of characters and is rather fast-paced. Thanks to this, the story can feel like it’s doing too much at once. In fact, the story seems to abruptly end just as it sets things up. However, it does keep viewers asking what’s going to happen next.
