English Dub Review: Farming Life in Another World “Fine Day for Visitors”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Hiraku has his hands full as mayor. Not only is he tasked with a series of angelic trials, but he must also mediate a draconic relationship.
Our Take:
The population in the Great Tree Village continues to expand, thanks to the arrival of a new group of angels and harpies. However, this latest recruitment is anything but angelic, as the actions of one particular angel, Kiabit, pit her and Hiraku in a series of trials as part of her punishment. It’s pretty odd that the mayor himself has to take part in these challenges as well, since Kiabit was the one causing trouble. Heck, she even tried to cheat during the last trial, only to get caught red-handed by Tia. But since he’s the mayor, anything goes to advance the show’s repetitive plot.
The same goes for the episode’s second half, in which Hiraku deals with a complicated relationship between the two dragons, Domyme and Quon. If you’re wondering why it’s been complicated, feel free to ask the latter. That is, if you can get past her intimidating stare. In short, “Fine Day for Visitors” replicates the same formula from some of the previous episodes, where they welcome new residents with open arms and solve their low-stakes problems. It bears repeating that while it’s fine as a laid-back, village-simulator anime, its formula can get pretty boring rather quickly for those wanting something really enticing. At the very least, it still offers the amusing charm I’d usually expect, mainly the angelic trials, and even some positive messages involving relationships. As long as those elements remain present in the season’s second half, I wouldn’t mind tolerating its relaxing structure for a while longer.
