English Dub Review: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun “The Music Festival: Showtime!!”
Overview
Iruma Suzuki and all thirteen students of the Misfit Class must perform to reach Rank 4 at the Music Festival.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the story finally shifts its focus toward the long-awaited Music Festival, with the Misfit Class preparing for their biggest performance yet while the other classes prove they’re far from easy competition. The episode does a great job showcasing the creativity and variety of the festival itself, from dramatic storytelling to intense musical performances, making the entire event feel much larger and more immersive than expected. At the same time, Purson’s internal conflict continues to build, with his family dynamic adding both humor and emotional weight to his decision about what kind of future he truly wants.
What really stood out was how surprisingly strong the supporting performances were. The mix of theatrical acts, emotional storytelling, and even symphonic metal-inspired music gave the festival a lot of personality, while also expanding the culture and lore of the demon world in subtle ways. Purson’s mother completely stole every scene she appeared in, balancing comedy with heartfelt encouragement, while specific characters like Poro Amduscias added plenty of chaotic energy throughout the episode. Even with Iruma barely conscious for much of it, his influence over the Misfit Class was still obvious, as a few simple words from him instantly restored everyone’s confidence.
Overall, this episode worked perfectly as a buildup chapter before the Misfit Class finally takes the stage. Rather than rushing straight into their performance, the series smartly used this time to highlight the talent of the rival classes while strengthening the emotional stakes surrounding Purson and the rest of the group. Between the comedy, the music, the character interactions, and the constant anticipation for what comes next, the episode made the wait feel completely worthwhile while setting the stage for what could be one of the arc’s strongest moments yet.
