English Dub Review: The Beginning After the End “The King’s Struggles”
Overview
Arthur and Jasmine are recruited for a dungeon raid that ends up being more dangerous than it seemed.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the series begins to go into a far more dangerous direction as Arthur joins a group of veteran adventurers on a high-risk expedition deep within the Tomb of Terror. What begins as a straightforward treasure hunt quickly spirals into chaos when the party realizes the dungeon is nothing like the map they were given, with deadly traps and seemingly immortal monsters turning every step into a gamble. The growing tension inside the group becomes just as threatening as the dungeon itself, especially as panic and mistrust begin to surface under pressure.
The rest of the proceedings leans heavily into survival and leadership, placing Arthur in a situation where calm judgment matters more than raw power. Several party members struggle to keep their composure as the mission falls apart, while Arthur’s maturity and tactical mindset steadily push him into a more central role. Although some character decisions may feel frustrating, the episode succeeds in creating a sense of uncertainty and danger that had been mostly absent from earlier installments, giving the story a more serious tone moving forward.
Overall, this was a stronger and more engaging episode that finally starts steering the series toward its larger adventure narrative. The dungeon atmosphere, rising conflict within the party, and Arthur’s gradual emergence as a dependable figure all help raise the stakes considerably. While the pacing and adaptation choices may still feel uneven at times, the episode does a much better job of building suspense and hinting at the more intense challenges waiting ahead.
