English Dub Review: Snowball Earth “Beyond the Madness”

Overview:

Isseki Sagami was formerly a soldier of ERDE and was originally called the “savior” of the human race. When Tetsuo began fighting kaiju, his pride was wounded. Now, years later, he is leading a group of kaiju tamers under the banner of VERDE.

Our Take:

I respect a good old-fashioned hater as much as the next guy. But it is funny that Sagami hates Tetsuo simply because he was better at killing kaiju than Sagami was. If he had a giant robot to pilot, I bet he would have done a good job as well. You would think that a bunch of giant monsters creating an apocalypse-type threat would bring people together. So long as someone can defeat them, that’s all that matters, right? Not when you’re a professional hater like Sagami.

Sagami is so jealous that he refers to him and his kids who control kaiju as “pilots.” I suppose it’s not entirely off the mark, but still. Even with Aoi and her kaiju, all of Mishima Mall is still outnumbered. I hope that Tetsuo can find a way to get back to save the day, but things aren’t looking good. Tetsuo finally has people he cares about, so it would be a shame if something happened to them.
