English Dub Review: Go For It, Nakamura-Kun!! “Crisis! A Rival Appears?!”
Overview
Nakamura is overjoyed to walk home with Hirose, but a handsome boy is waiting for them at the gate.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, this wacky story leans even harder into its chaotic blend of awkward romance and over-the-top comedy as Nakamura finally encounters someone who matches his obsessive energy. What begins with one of Nakamura’s usual fantasies quickly spirals into a hilariously uncomfortable rivalry when Kou, an eccentric admirer of Hirose, enters the picture. Their bizarre attempts to outdo each other lead to some of the episode’s funniest moments, while also showing just how deeply Nakamura’s crush has consumed his everyday thoughts.
Despite all the absurd humor and exaggerated misunderstandings, the episode still manages to quietly reinforce Hirose’s growing kindness toward Nakamura. Small moments between them help ground the comedy and make their dynamic feel surprisingly genuine underneath all the chaos. At the same time, Kou’s arrival creates a strange but entertaining contrast to Nakamura, as the two awkwardly bond over their admiration for Hirose while pushing the show’s already ridiculous energy to even greater extremes.
Overall, this was one of the series’ funniest and most memorable episodes so far, balancing cringe comedy, exaggerated delusions, and heartfelt character moments in a way that somehow still works. The introduction of Kou adds a fresh dynamic to the story, giving Nakamura someone who both challenges and understands him in equal measure. While the humor intentionally borders on absurd at times, the episode never loses the charm that makes Nakamura’s awkward journey so oddly endearing.
