English Dub Review: The Daily Life of the Immortal King Season Five
Overview:
Wang Ling’s family life is turned upside down with the arrival of a little sister, Wang Nuan. Immortal King Wang Ling vows to teach Wang Nuan to control her strength. In doing so, her strength catches the attention of Ye Kui, a sinister organization, and Bai Zhe, a high-level prisoner of the Mysterious Prison. Wang Ling decides to bring Wang Nuan along and teach these villains a lesson!
Our Take:
Technical things first. Currently, there is no announcement of a sixth season for this, but since we’re on season five and it seems tremendously popular, I would be surprised if we don’t get another season. It might just take a while since the last season aired at the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024.
I was not looking forward to the Wang Ling Sister arc, but the first episode sold it for me. I don’t know why I didn’t even think about the possibility of his sister being as powerful as him. But once I thought about it, I was excited to see some sibling teamups. Sure, I didn’t think that would happen for a while because she would be a baby, but I forgot how wild this show gets.
This was my favorite season so far. Not only was the sibling team a fun part of the season, but as a romance fan, I finally got to see some progression between Wang Ling and Sun Rong. The villain for the season managed to turn everyone against Wang Ling using a form of brainwashing. Wang Ling kissed Sun Rong, and that got her to remember and snap back to reality.
If you’ve been following this show at all, I can promise you will have a good time with this season. I don’t see it talked about very often, but Wang Ling has shown a lot of character growth since the beginning. He can still be aloof and nonchalant, but now you can see that he truly cares for Sun Rong and his family. When those groups get threatened, he actually shows some emotion.
