English Dub Review: The Beginning After the End “The King Begins Adventuring”
Overview
Season 2 of The Beginning After the End (Or “TBATE” as the Internet likes to call it) picks up with familiar beats, but struggles to elevate its presentation. The opening theme feels serviceable rather than memorable, and while the episode quickly throws Arthur into a new adventure alongside Jasmine, the execution doesn’t leave much of an impact. Their encounter with a dangerous creature adds some tension on paper, yet the visuals and direction fail to fully sell the moment, making it feel more routine than thrilling.
There are slight improvements over the previous season, particularly in pacing and occasional movement in action scenes, but the production remains inconsistent overall. Some sequences show marginal progress, while others fall back into stiff animation and repetitive framing. On the narrative side, the focus on Arthur stepping out on his own and facing the consequences of his actions reinforces his need for growth, even if the storytelling feels a bit unfocused at times.
Overall, this was a modest yet somewhat underwhelming return that leans heavily on the strength of its premise rather than its execution. While there are hints of progress in both character direction and structure, the episode doesn’t do much to reassure viewers hoping for a major leap in quality. It remains watchable for those invested in the story, but still falls short of reaching its full potential.
