English Dub Review: Oshi no Ko “Down Bad”
Overview:
Six months have passed since the release of B-Komachi’s music video, and lots of things have changed.
Our Take(Spoilers):
I’m not gonna lie, I thought this was an April Fool’s joke at first. There was no announcement or anything, and all of a sudden, we got a shadow drop of the first dubbed episode of season three. Not only that, but it’s available on both Crunchyroll and HiDive. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time they’ve worked together on something since the Sony merger. I miss the VRV days, but the great news about them working together is the fact that all of the voice cast have stayed the same. I know some people were worried that with Sentai handling the dubs of the first two seasons, there might be recasts for season three. Luckily, that wasn’t the case! Plus, it gives people who might not have both platforms a chance to watch the show because it’s available on both.
As for the episode itself, I’m so glad we’re back. This is one of the best shows running right now. The OP is fantastic as well. I looked it up, and it’s B-Komachi original! I like it when shows with idols in them use the idols in a real-world way, with the VAs of the characters singing the song.
Aqua has been avoiding Kana so that he can focus on his relationship with Akane. That’s what we’re told, at least. When Mem tries to fix things because Kana is having a hard time, she gets to the truth of the matter. Aqua has been avoiding Kana because if it ever came out that she had a boyfriend or lover, her life might be in danger. His traumatic past with Ai shows up well here, and Mem comes to the realization that Aqua might be in love with Kana. Never mind the fact that he doesn’t seem to mind if Akane is targeted for the same reason, but oh well, maybe it’s different to him.
