English Dub Review: Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World With Garbage Balancing “Life With the Granvelles”
Overview:
Allen begins his new life as a manservant of the Gravelle Family. Fortunately for him, that doesn’t mean the end of a life of monster hunting.
Our Take(Spoilers):
It seems that writers of manga and light novels have agreed that when and if their isekai/fantasy work becomes an anime, they will use the same cityscape. I’m serious, almost every show uses the same type of city, it’s crazy when you catch on.
Allen is fitting in well with the Gravelles and is happy that the head of the family doesn’t get angry at him for hunting monsters. They even offer to pay him for the rabbit meat that he had been throwing away up to this point.
What I found most fascinating about this episode was seeing that some of Allen’s summons have a will of their own. The bird he can summon, Hawkins, went against Allen’s commands because it found a group of adventurers that needed help. It was a fun wrinkle to see him interact with this particular summon, almost like a pet. The episode flashes forward six months, I believe, but that text wasn’t translated. It’s nice to see him fitting in and getting stronger.
