Our Take
Picking up from the previous two episodes, Agents of the Four Seasons shifts its focus toward the Summer household, introducing the Agent of Summer and her Guard while continuing to expand the emotional and political weight behind the Seasonal Agents’ duties. The first episode balances quieter slice-of-life moments with growing tension as Hinagiku and Sakura arrive at the Summer Villa, where the underlying conflict between the Summer sisters slowly comes to the surface. Beneath the brighter atmosphere and scenic setting, the episode steadily reinforces how emotionally exhausting and isolating the Agents’ responsibilities truly are, while also teasing lingering dangers surrounding the larger world.
The second episode leans even further into emotional storytelling by exploring the strained relationship between the Hazakura sisters and the fear of separation that hangs over them. Through Hinagiku and Sakura’s interactions with the Summer household, the series continues emphasizing themes of sacrifice, trauma, and the importance of cherishing the people closest to you before regret sets in. Hinagiku’s own painful experiences allow her to connect with others in an unexpectedly mature way, and several scenes throughout the episode hit especially hard thanks to the strong character chemistry, emotional dialogue, and beautiful soundtrack backing it all.
Overall, these two episodes do an excellent job of pushing the narrative forward while preserving the series’s emotionally driven identity, blending strong character writing with subtle worldbuilding and lingering tension about the future. While the pacing remains slower and more introspective, the emotional payoff feels earned because of how much care is put into the relationships and personal struggles of the cast. Combined with gorgeous visuals, atmospheric music, and heartfelt performances, Agents of the Four Seasons continues to stand out as one of the most emotionally captivating fantasy anime of the season.
