Review: Universal Basic Guys “Markumentary”
Overview
David films a UBI documentary. Mark wants to be the star.
Our Take
I don’t know if the producers got bad information or what but this week’s episode of Universal Basic Guys felt more like a series finale episode rather than just the final episode of the month that will see the show return for it’s actual season two finale happening on April 12th followed by a third season which is in production as we speak. What with the slightly modified intro, the final scene that seemed like a goodbye, this whole thing felt very The Office to me but I’m not complaining because this is one of the better episodes the show has ever done.
Universal Basic Guys this week featured lots of laughs, timely parodies of machines taking over manual labor tasks with lukewarm results, and the rich getting richer. Oddly enough, we not only spend more time with Mark and Hank’s former co-workers, but we find out that the UBI funds that the boys receive come from a private company and not the government which is an interesting concept that certainly throws some wrinkles into the premise.
Overall, a very good way for Universal Basic Guys to set up the show’s season two finale coming a month from now and fans of the show shouldn’t miss this episode.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
