English Dub Review: Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider “Shocker is On the Move”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Tojima and his fellow Riders unite, out to stop the Bat Man’s mass recruitment scheme for Shocker.

Our Take:
Their recent days of training certainly had their moments that were more bizarre, even hysterical, than the last, particularly Raiko’s disregard for Nakao’s confessions.  But what really matters is whether the Kamen Rider’s efforts would pay off, especially since Bat Man’s ultimate plan is coming to fruition.  With Shocker setting their sights on performing at the Tokyo Dome, Tojima and the others would have to step up their game to save the world.  Thankfully, Yuriko recovered just in time to join them for the ultimate showdown, but one can’t help but feel concerned about whether her injury would come back to haunt her.  Given her undeniable determination, I guess that it won’t, but with Bat Man’s formidable strength, it could be a possibility.
With “Shocker is On the Move”, the anime kicks off the final battle of the season, with Tojima and his team rising against Shocker’s master plan, despite the exhaustion from their training.  At least until they announce a season two of the show, which they haven’t yet.  If not, this will be another series I’ll miss watching, not just because of the meta approach to its “Kamen Rider” concept, but also because of how weirdly charismatic its animation style and humor are.  Before then, I’ll be happy that the final episodes seek to conclude the overall story the same way it started: with a Rider Punch!
