English Dub Review: The Daily Life of the Immortal King “Making a Sword Spirit for Little Sister”
Overview:
Wang Nuan’s parents want to give her a Spirit Sword while she’s still young, but Wang Ling decides to help.
Our Take:
Seeing Wang Ling and his sister get along (I know she’s a newborn, but we all know that doesn’t matter in this world) has been so enjoyable. Mainly, because God help us if they ever decide to fight each other. I don’t think our world would survive the ensuing battle. At least for now, that is a concern we need not worry ourselves over. It’s cute to see Wang Ling go out of his way to get his sister a Spirit Sword that can handle her immense power.
One problem that shows like this and One Punch Man have is that it’s hard to have a villain feel legitimately threatening. The current villain has been going around absorbing other bad people into his umbrella and using them, sort of like Pokémon, by summoning them when needed. He seems like he could be trouble, but it’s hard to feel that way when we know that there has been nothing to this point that has been able to stop Wang Ling, and we essentially have two of him with how powerful his sister seems to be. This is more of a comedy show, so that’s not a huge deal, but it can lower the stakes a little too much.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
