English Dub Review: You Can’t Be in a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! “An Unfamiliar Girl Who’s Your “Guy Friend”? But if You Laugh, It Still Won’t Start a Rom-Com”
Overview:
Eiyu, Shio, and Akari find out their childhood friend Haru is a girl.
Our Take:
We’re finally introduced to the final member of the childhood friend harem, Haru. I was wondering why Eiyu and the other girls didn’t recognize her since they played together as kids, but to no one’s surprise, they don’t recognize her because they thought she was a boy. I love Akari, but I might be leaning more towards Haru now. Marwa Elda voices her. I’ve never heard her before, but I love what she’s doing with Haru.
Haru claims to want to help Eiyu with his feelings for Akari and Shio, but if you’ve watched enough harem shows, you can see what’s going to happen. Either Haru doesn’t realize she has feelings for Eiyu yet, and doing this will make her realize it. Or she does know, and Shio and Akari will figure it out and tell her that she shouldn’t be putting her feelings aside to help them, which will inevitably lead to things coming back to the status quo. I’ll be honest, I was surprised that Eiyu even admitted to having feelings for the other two at all. I hope that Haru doesn’t become a background character like Runa, but we’ll have to see how involved she is in these last few episodes.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
