English Dub Review: To Your Eternity “Invisible Battle”
Overview
Fushi tries desperately to negotiate with Mizuha. Meanwhile, a grotesque Fushi impostor attacks the school…
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the series returns from its lengthy break with one of its most chaotic installments yet. A sudden school attack led by a regenerative Nokker, one that grotesquely mirrors Fushi, throws everyone into survival mode, creating a relentless, horror-tinged atmosphere. Tonari steps up with sharp instincts and decisive leadership, anchoring the panic as students scramble to respond to an escalating crisis that rarely pauses to breathe. The action is intense and at times genuinely unsettling, with the fake Fushi evoking a near “Invincible Slasher-villain”-like dread that makes even simple chase sequences feel nightmarish.
At the same time, the rest of the proceedings leans heavily into psychological turmoil and moral ambiguity. Mizuha’s unstable behavior, layered identities, and complicated connection to the Knokkers add intrigue but also confusion, especially as motivations blur and allegiances shift without clear resolution. Fushi continues to endure staggering losses while trying to protect those around him, yet some character decisions, particularly from the supporting cast, feel frustratingly detached from the life-or-death stakes. Tonal whiplash, abrupt twists, and uneven reactions from side characters make the narrative feel overcrowded, even as themes of love, coexistence, and identity attempt to hold everything together.
Overall, this episode delivers high tension and striking horror elements, but its execution proves divisive. The break may have amplified expectations, and while the installment certainly isn’t lacking in spectacle or ambition, pacing inconsistencies and questionable character focus prevent it from fully landing. Still, as a turning point packed with emotional volatility and mounting stakes, it sets the stage for an intense final stretch, hopefully with clearer direction and fewer delays ahead.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
