English Dub Review: Dusk Beyond the End of the World “Your Love Belongs to You”

Overview:

Love is as messy as it is transformative. It can drive people to selfish extremes just as much as it can drive them to heroic sacrifice. In the end, what does love mean to Akira and Yuugure?

Our Take:

The thing that I understand now is kind of dumb, I’ll be honest. Both Yuugure and Yoiyami mean “dusk” in Japanese, so the title has come full circle, you might say. Sorry, I know that’s not super important to the episode, but it was a cool moment for me. Plus, you might say that the end of their fight is the “twilight” of this century-long conflict we’ve been following.

I’m going to need to digest how I feel about this show, so I look forward to that in the season review, but I think it’s going to be mostly positive. The only reason it might not be is that I’m a little lost on the fates of certain characters and where others stand.

For the most part, the ending was satisfactory, and that’s more than I can say for a lot of shows. I admit to feeling some slight disappointment in what this show ended up being. I’m glad I watched this show, and we need more anime originals like this. Honestly, I think having such conflicting feelings about a piece of media is a good thing. It means the art in question got you thinking and ruminating on your feelings. If you’ve been following my review of this show so far, then have no fear, I think this was a show worthy of your time.
