Rick and Morty Season Nine First Look Revealed
The multiverse is getting even bigger. Following the conclusion of its eighth season last year, Adult Swim has officially unveiled the first look at Rick and Morty Season 9. While fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the Smith family’s next set of interdimensional misadventures, the new teaser confirms that production is well underway.
The “first look” clip, released on February 4, 2026, showcases the sharp, fast-paced humor that defined the series’ recent eighth season. Although a formal premiere date hasn’t been set, industry insiders suggest the ninth season could arrive as early as late 2026 or early 2027.
A Massive Future for the Franchise
The update comes as part of a larger expansion for the Rick and Morty universe. Adult Swim recently doubled down on its commitment to the series, officially renewing it through Season 12.
The show was previously under a massive 70-episode order that would have taken it through Season 10. This new extension ensures that Rick and Morty will remain a cornerstone of the network’s lineup for years to come, solidifying its place as one of the longest-running original animated series in Adult Swim history.
Hail to the Chief: The “President Curtis” Spinoff
In addition to the main series update, the network revealed a major surprise: the first official Rick and Morty spinoff titled “President Curtis.” The series will star Keith David, reprising his fan-favorite role as the ego-driven, highly capable, and often chaotic President of the United States. Created by Dan Harmon and James Siciliano, the spinoff will move the spotlight away from Rick Sanchez to focus on the daily White House adventures—and extraterrestrial crises—managed by Curtis.
The spinoff boasts an impressive voice cast, including:
-
Keith David as President Curtis
-
Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
-
Jim Rash (Community)
“President Curtis has always been a blast to play,” Keith David said in a statement. “Getting to explore his world more deeply in this new series is a dream. I can’t wait for fans to see what kind of chaos he stirs up when Rick isn’t around to steal the spotlight.”
What’s Next?
Between the production of Season 9 and the development of the President Curtis spinoff, the “Rick and Morty-verse” is entering its most ambitious phase yet. While fans wait for the Season 9 premiere, the first-look clip is currently available to stream on Adult Swim’s digital platforms

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
