English Dub Review: Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None “The Jack-of-All-Trades Speaks of His Ideals”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
The students find an article that says Orun was fired for being too weak.

Our Take:
Well, it didn’t take too long for people to find out about the Heroes Party’s new replacement.  Understandably, Orun’s new friends are not having it with Oliver’s lies, especially Selma.  If you want another reason Orun should stay far away from his so-called “friend”, this action should seal the deal.  Thankfully, that hasn’t stopped Orun and his recruits from progressing further into the dungeon.  While Sophia and Caroline were quick to trust Orun for his knowledge on the battlefield, Logan wasn’t so easily convinced, at least not at first.  Given his arrogance and lack of leadership, I can see why Logan would act this way towards Orun until his comrades quickly changed his mind.  While it may have shown signs of plot repetition in the dungeon raid, the episode continues to show Orun’s strength not just in strategy but also in generosity, gradually deepening his bond with his recruits.
If the show had focused on Logan’s gradual development for at least a couple more episodes, his arc would have been more interesting than what we got.  On the other hand, we’d also have to deal with Logan’s arrogance for a while longer, so it’s a lose-lose situation on this front.  At the very least, Orun’s background remained front and center in this episode, as he explained that he switched from swordsman to enchanter to help Oliver’s party reach the 94th floor.  That proved to be the worst mistake, not just for Orun, but also for Oliver, as their fast progression wasn’t enough for them to gain experience from their skills.  It looks like Oliver’s party will have their decision to ban Orun come to haunt them, as their highest floor might be the last floor they’ll fight in.
