Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the season finale, Season 3 Part 1 arrives with high expectations but realistic limits. While no single episode could fully redeem a divisive season, the closing chapter delivers some of its strongest spectacle and long-awaited payoffs. Key confrontations finally take center stage, offering flashes of sharp animation, impactful music, and satisfying character moments, especially for fans who had been waiting all season to see the main hero truly step into the spotlight. Comedic beats, particularly involving King, help balance the intensity and remind viewers of the series’ signature charm.
That said, the broader issues remain difficult to ignore. Inconsistent direction, uneven pacing, and abrupt transitions continue to affect the flow, and the season’s structure leaves the ending feeling more like a pause than a true conclusion. And the announcement of a continuation only reinforces the sense that these 12 episodes mostly functioned as a setup rather than a complete arc.
Overall, Season 3 Part 1 stands as a polarizing chapter in the anime’s run, one with glimpses of what made the series explosive in the first place, yet weighed down by noticeable production and storytelling shortcomings. While a few strong moments and a solid soundtrack prevent it from feeling entirely flat, It left more to be desired due to some of the behind-the-scenes issues and poor animation quality, including the director shutting off his social media account due to the backlash. But with another installment on the horizon, there’s cautious hope that lessons will be learned and that the next chapter will better reflect the scale and legacy of the franchise…
