English Dub Review: Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None “The Jack-of-All-Trades Follows His Feelings”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Orun must decide what he’ll do with his life now that he’s alone.

Our Take:
With Oliver now realizing Orun’s power against the Black dragon, you would think that they would be on good terms and forgive each other.  However, this episode shows that it’s actually the complete opposite.  Instead of admitting that they actually need Orun, Oliver and the Hero Party quickly identify him as a threat to them, further establishing their chosen paths.  Seriously, how ignorant can they be in still treating Orun like crap after everything he did for them?  I should’ve known better when it comes to anime involving the “banned from hero party” concept.  No matter how many times you prove your strengths to them, the hero party will always treat you like garbage.
This episode makes it clear that the anime doesn’t shy away from this “emotional” trope, for better or worse.  Like many other similar anime, this one would likely make you feel bad for Orun for being in this predicament, at least until he joins the Silver Rabbits.  Of course, it would also make you want to punch Oliver and the party for being incredibly dumb and selfish.  Knowing me, I would just let karma do the heavy lifting in making their lives without Orun a living hell, though that doesn’t mean I was thinking about punching them myself.  In short, this episode is what you’d expect from an anime like this, narrative-wise.  However, it does receive points for its exploration of Orun’s search for a sense of belonging, as well as Selma’s struggle with not being as strong as Orun.
