Review: Feride vs. the World “Episode 5”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
While Kanzi helps Feride lean into her entrepreneurial side, she’s brought back to the earliest days of her complicated relationship with her father.
Our Take:
They say that business is booming, though I wish I could say the same for my experience with this show. We’re only five episodes in, and I have yet to see any strong merits that this animated sitcom could offer to stand alongside the others. Though I will say that the previous episode showed signs of them being interconnected amid its mini-episodic structure, beginning with Ismet getting back together with Feride. This week’s episode continues that trend, with Kanzi being released from prison to propose a new business idea for Feride.
To give the episode credit, it does put more focus on one of the show’s supporting characters, exploring Kanzi’s background as an entrepreneur through his presentation. From his humble beginnings to forming a partnership with The Regretful One, Kanzi’s side story explores how modern businesses, especially social media, can affect people’s well-being, particularly when raising a family. Although the segment ends with Kanzi being diagnosed as mentally ill, the episode is one example of the show’s potential to present mature themes in a satirical manner, such as social media popularity. But, I wouldn’t say it’s enough to inject some life into its humorless concept, as its comedy still falls flat in the jokes that have been done before, especially the COVID-19 pandemic. While it’s at least a slight improvement over the previous three episodes, it still has no business being far less enjoyable than it already is.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
