English Dub Review: Tales of Wedding Rings “Episode 22”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
The group travels to the Great Mountain Wall and prepares to launch an attack against the Abyss King.

Our Take:
The rematch between the Ring King and the Abyss King draws near, as the team heads to the final destination of the second season: the Great Mountain Wall.  Although they faced a few personal issues during the journey, they’re assured that their power is enough to overcome the darkness.  However, it turns out that the Mountain Wall isn’t the only location they’re having the final battle on, as Satou and his wives will be confronting the Abyss King at his home turf: Vanna.
To get there, they would have to use the dwarven tunnels, where they uncover the dwarves’ history during the previous war against the Abyss King.  They were cursed by the Abyss to lose their will to exist, but the crucial aspect of the dwarves’ history is that the female dwarf was the last princess of their species.  In other words, this is another episode where the series slows the action down to expand on its world-building and characters, particularly Amber’s history with her dwarven creators.  Considering that we’re nearing the end of the season, this doesn’t seem like a good time for us to learn another history lesson.
But, at the very least, the episode shines more light on Amber’s purpose through that knowledge.  Besides that, this is evidently the calm before the storm that is the seemingly final showdown between Satou and the Abyss King.  It’s not without a few enjoyable moments stemming from those quiet moments, including Granart and Nefrites watching Satou and Hime have sex and Marse joining the fight to ensure a future for his child.  However, in terms of the pacing, the episode felt like an uneventful appetizer before we dive into the main course, but not enough to halt its plot completely.
