Overview:
Mari and Tsunagu test the boundaries of their relationship.
Our Take:
It’s nice that there’s another person who doesn’t think a beast-person is a bad thing. Yukihiro is a guy in Mari and Tsunagu’s class. Not only does he help them get out of the storage room they’re trapped in, but he sticks up for Tsunagu when people try to throw out his textbooks. Yukihiro is set up like a piece of an eventual love triangle. The reason I say it seems refreshing is the fact that he seems not to be interested in Mari in that way. She already confessed to Yukihiro that she thinks her heart has been stolen by Tsunagu.
What I think would be a cool development is if, while hanging out with Tsunagu and Mari, Yukihiro meets a girl beast-person and gets feelings for that person. I don’t necessarily see that happening, but I want to avoid a love triangle. I don’t think we need to be worried because Yukihiro even facilitated time alone for Tsunagu and Mari. All of this to say that I think Yukihiro is one of the best wingmen I’ve seen in a while, and for a show about a girl and a beast-person falling in love, it’s surprisingly relatable.
