English Dub Review: Hero Without A Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! “Guild Competition”
Overview
Now that Dragon Fang has three members, they can enter the competition and win the prize money to keep them going. That is, if they beat Black Blade, the current top guild.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Arel, Lilia, and Reiner step into Bresgia’s guild competition, where Dragon Fang tries to rebuild its reputation despite Black Blade’s overwhelming local influence. Arel’s unconventional strength quickly becomes the center of attention, and his efforts to encourage Reiner’s hidden potential add a warm, character-driven touch to the early matches.
Meanwhile, Lilia’s intensity keeps the group’s momentum high, even as figures like Georg stir tension from the sidelines. As the competition unfolds, Arel’s abilities take center stage, surprising both the crowd and their rivals’ A-rank swordsmen as he adapts to their techniques with remarkable ease. Lilia’s over-the-top reactions and Reiner’s softer enthusiasm add levity to the proceedings, keeping the tone comedic while knowing when to raise the stakes.
Overall, this episode excelled by leaning into character charm, light comedy, with the prototypical anime tournament tropes, keeping Arel, Lilia, and Reiner at its emotional center as their chemistry anchors the chaotic pacing. The competition itself plays more as a fun spectacle than a deeply strategic clash, giving each of them moments to shine while hinting at the rising rivalry between Dragon Fang and stronger guilds like Black Blade, as well as the continued scheming of figures like Georg. Even with its exaggerated tone, the episode remains an entertaining installment that sets up new challenges and future conflicts while not forgetting its underdog roots.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
