Disney+ is wasting no time securing the future of its critically acclaimed animated series, “X-Men ’97.” Marvel Television and Marvel Animation officially announced the renewal of the show for a third season during their panel at New York Comic Con.

In addition to the Season 3 greenlight, the studio confirmed that the long-awaited second season will premiere on Disney+ in Summer 2026, more than two years after the debut of the show’s universally praised first season.

The renewal news solidifies the animated series as a cornerstone of Marvel’s television future, following its massive success in 2024.

Marvel also revealed an exciting addition to the creative team for Season 2: the original creators of the 1990s classic, X-Men: The Animated Series.

The return of the original creative forces signals Marvel’s commitment to maintaining the nostalgic and thematic integrity that made both the original series and X-Men ’97 such a critical and fan favorite.

X-Men ’97 picks up the story directly after the events of the original 1990s animated series, continuing the adventures of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, and the rest of the beloved mutant team as they navigate a world without their mentor, Professor Charles Xavier.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man  is slated to premiere in Fall 2026.
