English Dub Review: Call of the Night “7th Night: You’re too stupid for that.”
Overview:
When Kou finds the diary of a girl called Kyouko, he discovers that he wasn’t Nazuna’s first human friend. Nor the first person she ever considered turning…
Our Take:
There were a lot of parts of this episode that were frustrating to watch because a lot of the onscreen text was not translated. Kou finds some letters that either Nazuna was writing to someone or someone was writing to her. It was hard to tell, and with the text not being translated, I could be entirely wrong about that part as well. That is what I am inferring, and Kou becomes jealous when it seems that Nazuna had a human friend before him and that she was even considering turning them. The name of this person is Kyouko Mejiro, and she was a school friend of Nazuna.
I don’t have proof other than the fact that they look similar and talk about detective stories, but I have a theory about Mejiro. I think Mejiro is the vampire hunter, Anko, all grown up. If this is true, then it means that Nazuna knows this person, and now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t know if they’ve ever shared any screentime yet. This means we might have a huge personal conflict on our hands in later episodes.
