Netflix’s Haunted Hotel Renewed For Second Season

We weren’t huge fans of the first season, but it’s all about the viewership which must have been good for it’s newest adult animated comedy Haunted Hotel.

The series successfully established its world and characters in its first season, leading to the exciting news that Netflix has officially announced that Haunted Hotel will be welcoming guests for a second season.

Haunted Hotel boasts serious pedigree, starting with creator Matt Roller (Rick and Morty, Archer), who also executive produces alongside comedy heavyweights Chris McKenna, Steve Levy, and Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon. The animation is handled by the renowned studio Titmouse, known for its bold and distinct visual styles.

The stellar voice cast brings Roller’s inventive concept to life:

  • Eliza Coupe as Katherine
  • Will Forte as Nathan, the Ghost-Brother
  • Jimmi Simpson as Abbadon, the Demon
  • Skyler Gisondo as Ben
  • Natalie Palamides as Esther

The series centers on Katherine (voiced by Eliza Coupe), a single mother of two who inherits the Undervale, a hotel that is quite literally haunted. Katherine struggles to keep the family business afloat while navigating both the horrors of innkeeping and the horrors of the supernatural.

She finds reluctant help in her recently deceased, estranged brother, Nathan (voiced by Will Forte). Having died in the hotel, Nathan is now a full-time resident ghost who, despite his best intentions, often believes the other spirits have some rather inventive (and often terrible) suggestions for running the place. The high-maintenance guests are the ghosts themselves, who have no intention of ever checking out.

Adding to the chaos is Abbadon (voiced by Jimmi Simpson), a powerful demon trapped in the body of a 1700s boy, whose main concern is maintaining his vessel’s health with the right breakfast cereal. The series follows Katherine and her kids, Ben (Skyler Gisondo) and Esther (Natalie Palamides), as they fend off gremlins, deal with haunted books, and confront other paranormal threats lurking within the Undervale’s richly detailed, horror-movie-inspired backgrounds.
