English Dub Review: Nyaight of the Living Cat “Commeowndo”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
The people at the Citadel start taking care of Jones the Devon Rex and make a translator for him!
OUR TAKE
This week on Nyaight of the Living Cat, a whole lot of barely connected stuff happens! We start with, as I mentioned, Jones the Devon Rex being able to get a translator in order to talk to Kunagi and Kaoru as they bathe him. Unfortunately, the translator can only speak in movie quotes, making Jones come off as a bit more aggressive than he may actually be. But still, this is a huge step forward in human and cat communication and relations, and with Jones’ apparent strong intelligence (for a cat at least), this could lead to great strides in bringing peace to these two species. At least, within the remaining three episodes of the season. However, after that’s all taken care of, we have two other, seemingly disconnected, bits going on. First off is following a couple nameless women (seriously, neither of them refer to each other by name for some strange reason) trying to survive in the countryside but eventually running into a bunch of cats at a hot spring along with those monkeys that like to live around there. I guess they get away in the end, but the final bit of the episode involves a Gunslinger and a Last Samurai (who we’ve seen in the Opening but never properly met) leading a resistance against a bunch of cats, and the previously unaccounted for Tsutsumi is with them!
With only three episodes left, it doesn’t seem like things are building up to anything momentous, but it does seem like Kunagi and Kaoru are close to finally reuniting with Tsutsumi after all, so that would be a fine enough way to finish off the season. There’s also Jones, who as mentioned has shown to be a lot more intelligent than most other cats, and now has a means with which to communicate with humanity. It’s not a great one, but it’s a start at least. And then there are those two random girls who may or may not have survived becoming cats by this point, so maybe they’ll show up by the end and become incredibly instrumental in making some sort of breakthrough. As much fun as I have been having throughout this series, if we only have a handful of episodes left, we should really be building up to some sort of conclusion right about now, wouldn’t you think? Well, maybe we’ll see that next week, for all we know.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
