English Dub Review: My Dress-Up Darling “I Didn’t Think Anything Good Would Ever Happen to Me”

Overview:

Everyone is getting ready for the upcoming Coffin group cosplay, but they also have a surprise for Juju.

Our Take:

I felt bad for two people in this episode, Akira and Juju. I felt bad for Akira because she had loved manga and anime but her mother threw all her manga away. This led her to believe that liking manga and anime was childish. She stopped enjoying something she loved because of her family and I don’t like that. But luckily she has some great friends who reintroduced her to the love of those things through cosplay. I felt bad for Juju because she was considering giving up cosplay since she’s so small she felt like she couldn’t bring certain characters to life. Lucky for her, Akira’s friends are great people and helped her cosplay a character she never thought she’d be able to.

One thing we didn’t get any closure on is why Akira seems to hate Marin. I think it will be resolved in the next episode because Marin brought it up since she noticed that Akira doesn’t like to talk around her. I hope they can work something out because I don’t want to dislike Akira but I will for Marin. Juju put it the best though by saying that some people aren’t gonna like you and that’s okay.
