The Glassworker: A Pakistani Animated Film Releases English Dubbed Trailer Ahead Of Theatrical Debut
The first English-language trailer for the highly anticipated 2D animated film, The Glassworker, has been released. Directed by Usman Riaz and produced entirely in Pakistan by Mano Animation Studios, the film has drawn comparisons to the renowned works of Studio Ghibli for its stunning painterly visuals and profound anti-war themes.
The Glassworker will be released in the U.S. by Watermelon Pictures on August 15. The film, which previously debuted to acclaim at the Annecy International Film Festival, was also Pakistan’s official submission for Best International Feature at the 97th Academy Awards.
The story is a poetic tale of first love set against a backdrop of escalating family tensions. It follows Vincent, the son of a glassmaker, and Alliz, the daughter of a powerful colonel and a talented violinist. Their relationship blossoms amidst the growing conflict, forcing them to confront the challenges of their art and their love. Through its hand-drawn animation, the movie explores the emotional complexities of staying true to one’s craft and heart.
