OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
The home team form diamonds to use as Medusa batteries, while Senku’s away team formulates a plan to finally settle this chase with Stanley, and Xeno does what he can to warn his allies.
OUR TAKE
It’s more scheming and scholaring on this week’s Dr Stone, with Senku’s team working double time to both learn the ins and outs of the Medusas while also getting ready to stop Stanley and take back the Perseus once and for all. First off, among the new discoveries about the Medusas, we learn a new detail about how the diamond batteries work within the mechanism. It was originally assumed that they needed to be perfect diamonds with no vulnerabilities so they could be sturdy and carry the energy from the device. But as it turns out, they apparently do need some pathway opened up so that the energy can pass through the diamond and throughout the Medusa. It really shows how fascinating this puzzle in reverse is. You find a device, you know what it does, but it’s broken. Now how do you make it work again and in your favor? As fun as it was in the previous season getting to see people throw the thing about and just stone people all over the place, it’s actually very fascinating to see how much this story leans into the scientific investigation of this odd and alien technology. Much like Star Trek, Dr Stone is about using curiosity, discovery, and understanding to conquer hate and fear, and that continues to look like where it’s going.
As for the other end where that hate and fear lie, we have our ongoing chase with Stanley, which may finally be reaching its climax. As expected, Xeno found the next possible opportunity to give a hint or edge to Stanley’s team, in this case alerting them in morse code about where Senku is planning to go next in hopes that Stanley’s crew will beat them there and overtake them through Stanley’s own combat qualities alone. And as a talk between Hyoga and Tsukasa reveal, they, the two strongest fighters in that team, have serious doubts they would be able to take Stanley, someone with possibly double their combat experience put together. That’s where the plan comes in, as the Science Team tries to put together a plan for Stanley’s side to be petrified with Medusa, presumably when they get one or more up and running. And with that, it really seems like we may be ready to finally move on to the next part of the story! And if not, well, maybe we’ll get some neat science points about it.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
