English Dub Review: To Be Hero X “Affective Disorder”

Overview:

Ghostblade reflects on what led him to become a hero and vows to fill a role he wasn’t able to before.

Our Take:

Remember when Nuonuo kept being stalked by a weird guy that seemed both dangerous and not dangerous all at once? Well in this episode we are introduced to the backstory of the “hero” Ghostblade. I put that in quotations because he’s an assassin which leads me to believe that everything the hero commision does isn’t exactly “good”.

Ghostblade has the unfortunate circumstance of having his trust value being linked to the fact that he seems like the quiet type. So therefore he’s not able to speak, but one day on a job he rescues a hostage and then marries her a few months later. They communicate mainly through text messages and for the most part their relationship is cute. But for some reason he doesn’t want to quit his job and move in with his and her’s family. They split up and he spends the following years “spending time” with his daughter in the shadows.

It was a bit jarring and hard to tell if now we are following Ghostblade and Loli’s arc is over or if this is some backstory to help expand her arc. I hope we get some more time with both character’s but I want to see Ghostblade get something that resembles a family life.
