English Dub Review: The Shiunji Family Children “Finally”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Arata has found Ouka, but what next?  And how will the rest of the family respond?

Our Take:
Ouka certainly had a lot on her mind when it came to love, and it almost cost her her life.  Thankfully, her big twin “brother” came to the rescue just in time, but even so, that doesn’t mean their problems are over and done with.  Despite being reunited with her family, Ouka still surrounds herself with her insecurities that led her to travel to Mount Fuji.  As Arata performs his “big brother” duty, Ouka reveals that she’s having issues communicating with Kaname after the revelation that they are not siblings.  As a result, she became unsure of how to express her feelings, which led to her struggling academically at school.  Fortunately, Arata’s speech about him treating her like family despite not being related is enough for her to gather the courage to talk to her adopted father again.
However, their little escapade resulted in Arata getting sick with a fever, leaving Ouka feeling guilty about what happened.  The second half of the episode may not be as crucial as the first, but it still maintains the sweetness of the show’s messages about family. It has often been emphasized that family is not solely defined by bloodlines. It also encompasses the love and bonds shared among people who are not related by blood.  That gets cut short when Ouka shared a kiss with Arata while he was resting. As a result, we might be heading back to familiar territory with the girls competing for Arata’s heart as we’re approaching the end of the season.  Maybe she should wait until he gets better first before she locks lips with her rescuer?
